The Central Texas Archaeological Society (CTAS) is a non-profit organization designed to encourage the scientific collection, analysis, interpretation, and publication of historic/prehistoric human remains and materials.
The CTAS aids in educating the general public about archaeology through printed publications, exhibitions, demonstrations, monthly meetings, and public speakers.
Membership is open to any individual or group that pledges to uphold the purposes and code of ethics of the CTAS.
CODE OF ETHICS
Membership in the CTAS is open to all who have a genuine interest in archaeology, in preserving the past, and who will abide by the conditions of current Texas Antiquities statutes or as they hereafter shall be amended or enacted.
The CTAS does not condone the practice of buying and/or selling artifacts for commercial purposes, the disregard of proper archaeological field techniques, or the willful destruction or distortion of archaeological data. CTAS members must abide by all Federal and State antiquities laws or regulations.
